“Do you really think that it’s a good idea to wear this today, Merlin?” Arthur frowned and turned in front of the mirror a few times.
“Arthur,” Merlin sighed, “you are their king as well. You need to show them that you want to be part of them. And since this is what they wear for festivities…” Merlin fastened a belt buckle on his own garment, grinned widely and spread out his arms. “Tadaaa…How do I look?”
“Like you forgot to put on your pants.” Arthur was still not convinced. “And why can’t I just wear some shorts underneath? Nobody will notice.”
“Oh, they will, trust me. I have no idea how, but Scottish people notice when you are cheating and wearing something underneath the kilt.”
Arthur sighed unhappily. “Let’s just hope that the wind doesn’t pick up. I can’t expose myself completely just because we caught a windy day for our visit.”
Merlin laughed at that. “Hey,” he shrugged, “why not? If it happens, it will happen to all of us.”
Walking around in his rooms a bit, Arthur wiggled. “It feels…really weird. And…drafty.”
Stepping close, Merlin wrapped his arms around Arthur’s waist and pulled him close. “Focus on your speech and you’ll be fine.”
For a moment, Arthur leaned his head against Merlin’s shoulder. “The stuff you’re putting me through…”
Merlin ran his lips over the rim of Arthur’s ear and whispered. “Just wait what I’ll put you through when we’re alone again.”
Arthur groaned and wondered how he would ever disguise the hard-on he got from Merlin’s words alone.
