Title: I'm Done
Rating:G
Pairing/s:
Character/s: Arthur, Merlin
Summary:
Warnings: none
Word Count: 289
Prompt: #200 Amnesty poost
Author's Notes: This was just something that came to me that I thought would turn into more but never did. I always like to think they are high school and were friends at the start of the year. Read what you want into it.
“What do you care?” Merlin said angrily though in truth he was more tired.
Arthur gave him a rather indignant look and spoke in that pompous Pendragon way, “What is that supposed to mean? Of course I care.”
“You have an odd way of showing it.” Arthur looked at him with confusion so Merlin continued. “You haven’t spoken to me in months other than to say hey as you pass in the hall. You’re always busy whenever I try to talk to you and when I asked if you wanted to come over and hang out you always had something else to do so I stopped asking.”
Arthur looked contrite, “Well that still doesn’t mean I don’t care.”
“Oh really? So you baked cookies for me when Rusty died?” Merlin glared at him daring to him to say something. “Or came to see my mum when she got sick and my Uncle Gaius moved in?” He had moved so that he stood toe to toe with Arthur but he hadn’t raised his voice. “Or maybe when Valiant and Jarl shoved me in front of that car you were the one who brought me my assignments, all the good gossip and played video games with me to keep me from going stir crazy?”
Arthur opened and closed his mouth a couple of times before he spoke. “It still doesn’t mean I don’t care.”
Merlin stared at him for a moment before he sighed. “Whatever you say Arthur.” He turned to walk away.
Arthur grabbed his arm and spun him around to face him. “You can’t just walk away.”
Merlin huffed a sort of laugh, “Why not? You did.” This time when he turned to walk away Arthur didn’t stop him.
