Arthur quietly opened the bedroom door. In the dim light he could barely make out Merlin lying sprawled across their bed. It was after one and Merlin had surely been asleep for hours. Arthur slipped out of his clothes with a deft hush born of too much practice. He eased into the bed, moving Merlin’s sleep soft limbs, making room.

Mumbling in his sleep, Merlin turned, warm hands reaching, hugging Arthur close, head slotting under Arthur’s chin right where he always alit once Arthur made it to bed. Arthur smiled in the dark and hugged him back, home at last.
