Gwaine looked again. It was empty… Completely empty. A feeling of endless void took over him.

He couldn’t believe it! It was the worst treason he could have imagined. They knew how important it was for him! And still, they had breached their mutual trust.

Gwaine looked at the empty box and felt his heart sink, so he decided to confront them.

They were in the lounge. Merlin was playing on his Switch and Percival was reading.

“I thought we were friends!”

“What?” Percival asked as Merlin lifted his eyes from his game.

“The last Quality Street? Who ate it?”

Gwaine never panicked. He was well known for his laid-back attitude. He managed to stay calm in almost every situation, even when everyone else had lost it.

Gwaine was a teaser and proud of it.

Teasing, using his charms was a game for him. A funny game he had always won.

He had learned so many tricks. One time, he had even managed to bring a stableboy to his climax without touching him!

But then, he came to Camelot and met Merlin.

Merlin who could tease without even realising it… Not wearing his neckerchief and letting Gwaine see his clavicles. Licking his fingers full of berries’ juice. Bending to poke the fire. Eating cherries with his sinful lips around the fruit.

This time, Gwaine had been defeated.

Magic is burning like fire in his eyes and Gwaine feels it prickle on his skin.

Emotions are always so clear on his face, you can read him like an open book.

Ready and willing to follow Gwaine in all his ideas (even the more foolish ones)

Laughter is so communicative it lights up a whole room and you can’t resist it even if you try.

Innocence is there, filling him with wonder like a child that discovers the world.

Noble in everything but his blood.

And these are just a few reasons why Gwaine is in love with Merlin.

They had gone out together so many times before… With other friends or not. To the cinema, to the restaurant, to clubs and parties. They had spent so much time with each other.

But this time was different. This time they both knew it was special. They both knew it was a date. A real one.

Merlin had tried at least twelve different t-shirts. Percival had left his flat an hour early just to be on the safe side.

They were far less relaxed than usually but this time, they knew there would be a kiss at the end. Hopefully…

One year became ten, then a hundred… a thousand.

Never had he lost hope.

Tough, more than once had he wanted to surrender

But, deep in his heart, he knew Arthur would come back.

Even if he had to wait an eternity for it.

Continuing to live, to meet, to care, to advance…

Rewarding himself with a few moments of happiness

Until finally he would feel it, sense his heart call him back to the lake

Eager to finally reach the end of his wait
