Author's Notes:The coronation oath I took from here and tweaked it Act Establishing the Coronation Oath, 1689
Arthur rolled over to find the space next to him vacant and Merlin looking out the window. The way the moon light framed Merlin’s nakedness made more that Arthur’s heart ache.
“What are you doing up? We both have a big day tomorrow.”
“I couldn’t sleep I… what if…?”
“Ah the dreaded What If’s.” Arthur pushed back the duvet and rose to join Merlin.
“Let me see,” the King said as he reached the window kissing Merlin on his bare shoulder “What if my people won’t or don’t accept me?” Kissing Merlin on his neck and lingering there for a moment, sucking the moon-bathed skin.
“Mmmmm.” Merlin moaned
“What if I can’t perform my duties?”
“Yes, that’s exact…,”but his words were cut short when Arthur’s mouth claimed his, the King’s tongue begging entrance. Merlin opened up to him. Breaking the kiss Arthur continued “What if I fail my people. What if I’m not brave, kiss smart, kiss wise, kiss…” Arthur was leaving a trail of burning kisses down Merlin’s chest “…sexy…”
Merlin laughed “I serious.”
“I am too. You don’t think I asked myself these very same questions?”
Merlin tilted his head to the side “Even the what if I’m not sexy enough question?”
“Well no, not that one because I already knew I was.”
“Prat,” Merlin said hitting him.
“The point I’m trying to make here Merlin is that I’ve made some mistakes and I’ve tried to rectify some mistakes that were made buy my father. Am I perfect? I can say no my father couldn’t. Do I still have things to learn? Yes I do, but one thing I do know is that I love you and the people of Camelot will love you too. You are my husband and soon to be Camelot’s King for better or worse.” Arthur took Merlin’s hand, “Now come to bed Sire, you have a busy day tomorrow. Arthur slowly makes love to Merlin brining the king in him forth before they sleep.
The sun streaming in through the window wakes Merlin first, who bids Gaius entrance. “My Sires,” says Giaus “you have a busy day ahead of you.”

In his Sovereign robes Merlin walkes in accompanied by Gaius and Lancelot and kneels in front of Arthur.
Arthur takes a moment before speaking and looks down at Merlin with love and pride. Then his voice fills the room.
Arthur "Will you solemnly promise and swear to govern the Peoples of Camelot of your Possessions and other Territories to any of them belonging or pertaining, according to their respective laws and customs?"
Merlin "I solemnly promise so to do."
Arthur : "Will you to your power cause Law and Justice, in Mercy, to be executed in all your judgments?"
Merlin: "I will."
Arthur placed the crown on Merlin’s head and as Merlin kisses Arthur’s ring lingering there Arthur wipes away Merlin’s tears with his thumb,
Arthur "It is my duty and honour to present to you King Merlin. You may arise and greet your people."
Gaius and Lancelot do nothing to hid their tears while the room erupts in shouts of “Long Live King Merlin”

I love the tender moments at the beginning, Arthur staring at Merlin and then with them together in bed, comforting each other. When Arthur was trying to console Merlin, I had a goofy smile on my face, especially the "am I not sexy enough" question. Adorable.
I love that Lancelot is present too and that he and Gaius are unable to hide their overwhelming joy at seeing Merlin crowned.
Finally, the image of Melrin kissing Arthur's ring and Arthur quietly wiping around his tears with his thumb? Breathtaking.
