Heart and Soul
All was in readiness. Everything was perfect for the big day. Merlin had seen to the arrangements personally.
Arthur was so excited that he actually glowed. Merlin gave him an ecstatic smile. After so much sadness, Arthur deserved to be happy.
Merlin watched Gwen float down the aisle on Elyan’s arm. And while he was pleased for her, a pang of soul deep envy assaulted him.
Merlin may have been the other side of Arthur’s coin, his soulmate...but it was Gwen who held Arthur’s heart. Arthur’s love was something Merlin had always yearned for…and was destined never to have.
