Merlin loved living in Camelot. Still, sometimes, he missed Ealdor.

He missed his mother of course but also the calm and solitude he could find there.

In Camelot, he was always occupied. Doing chores for Arthur, helping Gaius, saving Arthur’s life, helping protect Camelot, giving the Knights a hand.

Times alone were few and far between and Merlin had had to find places where he could find some quite.

At first, he has tried to go to his rooms but with all the people coming to see Gaius, it had never been a quiet place.

After that, he tried to find another place somewhere in the castle...He ended always being found and interrupted by someone… A Knight, a servant, Arthur, Gwen…

That’s how he ended going to a small clearing in the forest...When it was not raining or snowing at least.

It took Merlin some more time to finally found his perfect quiet place, though… And this time, he was determined not to leave it. Percival’s arms were too comfortable.

“My lord”. A title Gwaine had heard for nearly all his life. A title he had learned to hate and had done everything he could to forget. From his studies in the States to his three-years-long trip in Italy and to his actual life as a penniless painter in a small Welsh village. He had stopped talking to his parents. He had wiped out that part of his life.

And he had had no regrets about these decisions. He was happy, he was himself, he was free.

Of course, he had told Merlin about this. About his birth, his family and his titles. Merlin had laughed, telling him he was the shittiest Earl in Great Britain and Gwaine had laughed too.

Still, when Merlin naked and breathless from too many kisses answered Gwaine’s question - Can I fuck you? - by a simple “Yes, my Lord”, it was the hottest thing ever.

Gwaine heard the cooing as soon as he walked into the house.

“You’re such a cutie, aren’t you?”

He recognised that tone Merlin had when put in the presence of a baby animal.

It didn’t bode well.

Gwaine followed Merlin’s voice to discover his boyfriend on the kitchen floor, petting what looked like a drenched kitten.

“Don’t tell me… You found it alone, meowing, wet and you just couldn’t let him die.” Gwaine said.

“How do you know?”

“Because it was the same with Kili, Kalheesi, Sirius and Pixel.”

2 dogs, 1 rabbit and 2 cats… A big happy family.

Leon had been a steady presence in Arthur’s life since they were children.

First as a friend, a slightly older friend that Arthur looked up to.

Then as a fellow Knight, working, training and fighting together.

As a counselor, too. Leon always provided an objective view of Arthur’s problems. Arthur went to him when he had to take an important decision and Leon was there for him.

It took many advices for Arthur to realise that Leon was perhaps more than a friend, a knight or a counsellor… To realise that Leon’s importance in his life had another, deeper meaning.
