Title:Lady of Dragons
Rating:PG
Pairing/s:Kilgharrah/Hunith/Balinor
Summary:Hunith has a repeated guest in the form of an old friend.
Word Count:480
Prompt:Time
"I came to you to offer my condolences and my respect to the mate and the mother of the dragonlord."
She smiled learning to answer the right ways to their kind when she was much younger. Deference to their strength, magic, and intelligence were essential, a mask of intent as much as an offering of information. "Neither bring in my crops, but both memories are good for me."
The Dragon laughed deep from within at her bravery. He was pleased.
A week later the dragon came back with men to work her lands for the harvest.
__________
She stood alone at the edge of the forest, a tight shawl wrapped comfortably around her shoulders. It wasn't that cold out. It might even have been a little warm in the late spring air, but she knew better than to let him see her out at night without a proper covering. She would never hear the end of it. She smiled to herself. Her hair done up in nice ways that would be destroyed by the wind. Why did she even bother?
He landed near to her with a gust and swift bow of his head. "Are you ready Lady of Dragons?"
Odd title this one had picked up for her, but she nodded her head and bowed in returned to greet him before agreeing to rest gently in his claws for fun evening flight.
___________
A retired knight of Cenred's father's kingdom apparently wasn't worthy of Hunith's time. Her 'old friend' made sure she knew of it. Neither was the local baker or blacksmith. Especially not the widowed blacksmith whom Kilgharrah may have threatened not only in his sleep (like the others), but given a quick burst of eternal flame to cooling metal pits.
"As a guardian of destinies, the Lady of Dragons..."
"Has nothing to offer you and your protections." She responded with short clipped answers. It wasn't this creature's place to interfere in her life. She would never have anyone but Balinor's love and didn't need this overgrown lizard to remind her of it.
The creature, now half friend, took flight as he said to her, "I require nothing that will not be given."
__________
The gifts weren't the first clue, but perhaps they were the last. They were the same as the ones Balinor left at her door the day after they met and the day before he disappeared from her life.
Hunith peered deep into magical eyes. "How long have you been with this one?"
"Since I died in our son's arms." The dragon said calmly.
"And yet you played this game."
She reached a hand out to touch the scaled hide that sheltered the man she ached for.
"It is no game. He is one of the last and agreed to let me stay with him, if nothing more than to watch over those I still love."
" I missed you." She said with tears in her eyes.
"I missed you as well. Lady of Dragons."

Date: 2012-07-01 08:40 pm (UTC)I do love the slash dragon. I think he and Hunith, who also is of the slash believers, would get along really well. :)

Date: 2012-07-04 06:34 pm (UTC)It sort of is a threesome in some respects. Balinor and Kils are together in one body. And now I'm thinking about if they weren't, and both had some form of attraction to Hunith. What would be the result of that pre-Merlin? Hmmm.
