Author's Notes: Based on a true story... and kinda 2 stories in 1
Merlin had been debating it for a while, but having spent a year with little contact from his best friend, who was now living and working in another country, it was now almost inevitable. Lancelot was in the town for a couple of weeks so of course he had organised a night out at the pub with the blokes from high school Merlin didn’t see much of these days and didn’t hear much about either.
Within the first few minutes, Merlin had found out that one of his friends was engaged, which was apparently old news thanks to Facebook, and that two others were planning a trip to visit Lancelot in a few months.
When everyone was just about ready to call it a night, having noticed how uninformed Merlin was about everyone, Lancelot called for a vote.
“Who here reckons Merlin should get Facebook?”
Only a few of the group put their hands up and Merlin thought he was going to be able to keep up his 6 year boycott of stupid social media. But Lancelot was determined. He repeated the question, this time a little louder.
“Who thinks Merlin should get Facebook?”
This time, everyone in their group and a few that weren’t put their hands up. It was unanimous.

Merlin still wasn’t convinced. He would need to way up the pros and cons. So he wrote a list.
There were four things on each list. Now what?
Merlin looked back over the lists and thought about Lancelot asking all his friends to vote. Giving in to peer pressure was something Merlin tried to avoid as much as possible, but when it came to pressure from his best mate… now that was a different story.

It took a couple of weeks, but Merlin finally bit the bullet.
Everyone was ecstatic and most of his friends were highly surprised at receiving a friend request from Merlin Emrys.
When Merlin finally figured out how, he updated his relationship status to ‘In a relationship’. He would have said ‘with Arthur Pendragon’, only Arthur despised social media more than Merlin and had deleted his account a while ago after never using it.
Not long after, a comment was posted to Merlin’s change in relationship status. Of all the people it could have been, it was from Gwaine and read: WHAT!?!?!?!?!?! WHAT!?!?!?!?!?!?
Merlin wasn’t sure how to take it. He was sure Gwaine knew he had a partner and had for nearly 4 years. He knew he was guilty of flirting with Gwaine, but it was nothing but harmless fun. They both knew it was just a play thing between them and they were just good friends. But Gwaine’s reaction was still rather curious.
Was it a serious comment, which would mean he was jealous? Or was it sarcasm and a joke, which Gwaine was always good for?
The next comment from Morgana didn’t help: smoooth one gwaine.
Merlin couldn’t help but wonder if there was something he was missing…
He reminded himself that he loved Arthur and knew he could never bring himself to cheat on his partner, so no matter what Gwaine’s comment meant, that was all that counted.
