Merlin smiled at Morgana. “Hello there. Would you like to get some ice cream with me?”

“Would I? It sounds perfect,” she replied.

“Great! I mean, hi, I’m Merlin.”

“Hello, Merlin, I’m Morgana.”

“Oh, I knew that. You’re the most beautiful girl in school.”

Morgana smiled. “Thank you.”

She put her hand in his, and together they walked over to the ice cream stand. “And what will you have today?” he asked her.

Morgana perused the menu. “I’ll have chocolate. You can’t go wrong with a classic.”

“I agree. I’m going to have vanilla,” Merlin said.

While they waited for their ice cream, Merlin asked, “Why did you agree to come with me? You have your pick of guys.”

Morgana smiled. “Honestly? You had me at ‘hello.’”

“Me?”

“I’ve been waiting for you to get the nerve to ask me out.”

“Really?” Merlin grinned.

“It’s because you’re the most interesting boy in school.”

“Thank you.”

They took their ice cream and walked hand in hand down the boardwalk, talking until the sun set.
