Author’s notes: Not beta’d. Yay! What else is new. This takes us back into the universe of Captain Arthur of the Camelot…ahem! Ambassardors Pendragon and Emrys on board the Camelot. If you don’t know them, Here is their story. Sorry, no adorable alien-speak in this one, they’re communicating in Ealdorian.

Arthur stood at the bottom-length windows of Seven Below and looked at the stars. They had been out in space for a while now but he never got sick of marveling in the beauty that was the universe. It had been a couple of exhausting days with careful negotiations between the Union and a planet they had only just discovered and Arthur had been gnashing his teeth more than once and he felt like the fake smile he had to muster most of the time was edged onto his face. This ambassador job sometimes took its toll and now was one of these times. Tonight, they had celebrated the signing of the treaty they worked on so hard and the delegation of Romanerians had left the ship about an hour ago.

The Romanerians were tough people, they had celebrated hard and Seven Below was trashed. That was nothing new to the crew of the Camelot, they had seen this before and with an almost stoic calm, they had put on music and already started to clean up. Arthur knew he should help or at least make an attempt until someone shooed him away, but he was drained. He even managed to drown out the noises while he looked at the bright dots of light in the pitch black of space.

Merlin stepped up behind him and wrapped his arms around Arthur’s waist. “What are you looking at?”

Arthur leaned back into Merlin and already felt a bit better. “The stars.”

As if that explained anything. But Merlin seemed to understand and they stood a while, still in their full ambassador robes, and looked outside together. The crew knew better than to disturb them. Or maybe Merlin had put a little spell around them that nobody could breach, who knew? And Arthur didn’t care either, it didn’t matter.

“Come,” Merlin said after a long while.

“Where to?”

Merlin just smiled and took his hand. Leading him through the corridors of the Camelot, Arthur knew where they were going. The holodeck was waiting and he smiled widely when he noticed that Merlin had created the back terrace of their home on Ealdor, including the gardens.

As they both got rid of their long cloaks and robes and were about to climb on the big lounge chair, Arthur pulled Merlin close. “Thank you.” Merlin always knew just what he needed.
