Word Count: 100
Prompt: 477 'Emerald'
Author's Notes: Canon drabble
True Colour
Green was always Morgana's colour, Merlin thought.
He remembered her, resplendent in her silk gowns, their emerald shimmer a perfect match for the jewels at her throat. He recalled her riding at speed through the woods, her forest-green velvet cloak streaming behind her like a lush banner celebrating nature.
In later years, she wore black, but her true colour didn't change. Morgana's eyes, although blazing with rage and resentment, were still brilliantly jade-green. And the madness coursing through her mind and veins, what other colour could represent that than the sickening pea-soup shade of boiling, seething venom?
