Merlin watched Morgana bargaining with the vendor at the antique jewelry booth. They’d been going at it for at least five minutes. He knew—he’d checked his watch. He and Morgana had come to the street fair, not knowing what to expect. What they found was an eclectic set of vendors, selling everything from wrought-iron yard signs to hand-made wooden toys. Morgana had fallen in love with a bracelet at this particular booth.

He watched her as she finally shook hands with the vendor and handed over her credit card for processing. The vendor snipped the tag off the bracelet and Morgana slid it onto her arm. She smiled as she walked over to him. “I just got the best bargain,” she said.

She held out her wrist to him so he could get a good look. The piece was indeed stunning, and he told her as much. “So how much did you spend?” he asked.

Morgana frowned. “I’m afraid I blew our budget.”

“What?!”

“But it was worth it, right?” She smiled, fluttering her lashes.

He laughed. “If it makes you happy, it makes me happy. I guess we can go home now.”

“You don’t want to browse the rest of the shops?”

“What’s the point? We don’t have any money to spend.”

She giggled. “You have a point there.” She tucked her arm around his and together they strolled out of the street fair.
