“Tell me again why I’m the one helping you?”

“Because you said that you love me remember,” Merlin replied,

“Oh that’s right, I did didn’t I, Then tell me again why we just didn’t use a cart”

“You saw, it wouldn’t fit, it’s too big.”

“Like something’s else that’s too big.” Arthur smirked

Merlin remained silent but pushed against the golden object they were carrying making Arthur stumble slightly.

“Did you see the look on the blacksmiths when I told him it was for a dragon?”

“You could have just told him you like big things.”

“We’re here, set it down,” Merlin said ignoring Arthur’s statement but unable to hide the silly grin that spread across his face making his eyes sparkle.

“MEOC OT EM KILGHARRAH ROF I MA EHT NOGARD DROL!”

A figure flew across the full moon blocking it out. Arthur remained calm as the massive beast landed in front of them.

“What is it that you require of me my Kings.”

“Bow.” Arthur said

Kilgharrah brought his massive head within inches of Arthur "BOW?!" but when the king didn’t even flinch the Great Dragon pulled back and looked at Merlin who nodded and Kilgharrah bowed but when Arthur pulled his sword from it‘s sheath, Kilgharrah roared “BETRAYER!”

“ECNELIS FLESRUOY! TSURT EM! WOB!"

Kilgharrah reluctantly obeyed Merlin, his huge body tense.

Merlin took Excalibur from Arthur and walked towards the Great Dragon. He touched what looked like a tiny sword to Kilgharrah shoulder “ By the power vested in me by King Arthur, Camelot and Albion I so dub you Kilgharrah King of the Skies.”

Kilgharrah pulled back and looked at Merlin “What folly be this.”

“It’s not folly we even have a crown for you” Merlin gave Excalibur back to Arthur and they both brought the crown over to the Great Dragon and laid it upon his massive head. Kilgharrah just laid there a single tear falling on his from his dragon eye onto his talon. “Thank you.” was all he said before turning and flying away As he roared only Merlin noticed that for that moment the mighty rumble of Kilgharrah’s voice was gone replaced by a softer almost strangled cry.

Oooh, I like how Arthur tells him to bow. Interesting that Merlin and Arthur are sharing power like that even though Arthur is not a dragonlord.

sldkfjlskdfjsfsffj Best. Day. Ever. This drabble is my head canon come to life. I can't tell you how insanely I was grinning while reading this, or how much I cackled with glee at the snarky humour between Merlin and Arthur ("Did you see the black smith's look when I said it was for the dragon?") and Kilgharrah.

I can read backwards, I'm so surprised at myself! Wow, that made me happy.

This fic is so adorable and everything... just... Kilgharrah feeling betrayed at first, and then in denial ("It's not folly, we even have a crown for you." OH GOD MERLIN AND ARTHUR, YOU ARE AMAZING), and then insanely touched. Oh god so amazing. I like this line "For that moment the mighty rumble of Kilgharrah's voice was gone, replaced by a softer, almost strangled, cry."

That says so much more under the lines ^_^

HOORAY FOR HEAD CANON. You are seriously amazing for writing this (hugs galore!)
